Do you have a family photo but one person is missing??  If you have a photo of the missing person it can almost always be added into the family photo to look like they were actually there. 

Do you have a picture that is almost 'picture perfect' except for the goofy person making faces in the background??  That person can almost always 'disappear' with a little digital magic.

Almost any part of a photo can be 'taken out' of a picture and used on other mediums ie: cards, stationery etc.  See the samples below.
